Peter Rohr ready for the last race of IBHR 2019

The International Bridgestone Handy Race (IHBR) is about to end: an amazing edition 2019, full of emotions.

During the international paralympic motorcycling competition, organized by FIM (Fédération International de Motocyclisme), Handi Free Riders and Diversamente Disabili with the support of the FFM (Fédération Française de Motocyclisme), disabled motorcyclists compete in the three races of the championship.

As last year, the final round will be raced at Magny Cours – France, on 27-29 September, again with the World Superbike Championship.

We met Peter Rohr, World Champion of IHBR 2018 and sponsored by DERWID in this great adventure, and we asked him some questions.

One race missing before the end of your second worldwide championship, the pressure is high. Which are your expectations?

Despite the most difficult racing conditions, the season so far has gone well. Of course I want to finish the race at Magny Cours with a victory. My competitors are even stronger this year, so I can’t afford any mistake.

I’ve been thinking about our race for 2 weeks now and tried to simulate every possible racing situation in advance. This is the best way for me to prepare myself to go beyond my limits on race day.

Looking back to that bad accident, what was the hint that pushed you to train again and come back on the track?

After my accident in 2015 my whole environment toldme that it was over now with motorcycling and I should be happy that I was still alive.

When they heard that I wanted to ride again despite my accident, most people thought I was crazy – exactly for this reason, I really wanted to get back on my motorbike.

When I was still in hospital, I was joking with my friends: I told them that when I got back on the bike, I would overtake them in the outside corner, even though I was only riding with one hand….

everyone laughed and said that the only goal was that we could at least ride our bikes for a coffee.

One year later I overtook my friends in Rijeka on the race track…

Which are you future goals?

My first goal at IBHR was to be in the top 3 in 2018 and I have achieved it.

My second goal is to defend the title in 2019. In 12 days, we will know whether this will happen.

My further goals have not yet been precisely defined, as I’m already looking forward to the 2020 season and I am curious to see how our racing series will develop.

It’s also time to show some consideration for my father, who supported me on this journey of my life from the beginning and was always on the road with me.

A big thank you also belongs to my girlfriend Martina, friend mechanic Alex and Horst of DERWID, without whom I would not have been able to afford this season with the title defense mission!

Good Luck Peter!

DERWID supports Peter Rohr on the IBHR 2019

After the successes of the 2018 racing season, DERWID supports Peter Rohr – the current World fastest Handicap-Racer – in achieving his dream also for the next season. We will be on track together again for the International Bridgestone Handy Race 2019.

Peter Rohr: World fastest Handicap Racer 2018

In 2018 Peter Rohr fulfilled his dream. After the motorcycle accident of 2015, where he lost the use of his left arm, he worked hard to get back on the motorcycle and at the end of a successful racing season, he won the title as World fastest Handicap Racer.
Crowning his achievements and commitment, early this year he was voted Man of the Year of the Villach Region for the Austrian newspaper Kleine Zeitung.

We are proud and very happy to be on track together also this year. We share with him the belief that adversities are a chance and from every situation there’s a way out.

What to expect from this 2019 season?
For sure passion and great emotions. Peter has continued his trainings, also off the track, to prepare for the races and reach his goal for 2019: defending the World title.

We look forward to seeing you on the track, Peter!

DERWID’s Project Management internal course: new competences available to you

DERWID's internal course about Project Management

How could a DERWID’s internal course about Project Management be useful for our customers and partners? Let’s discover it together in this article.

“A goal without a plan is just a wish.”
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Why working on Project Management?

In DERWID, we always work towards increasing our internal competences. Of course, we want to continuously improve our internal organization. But, that is not the only reason. First of all, we invest in our training to enhance our services to you, our customers and partners.

During last year, DERWID’s employees had a great opportunity: to learn more about Project Management.

In a company, projects are fundamental. Also if you don’t call them projects. And knowing how to manage them is the right starting point to reach positive results.
For that reason, among DERWID’s employees, we have some experienced and qualified Project Managers (PM), that work on projects according to standard international best practices. In order to be more efficient and profitable, we decided to further grow and spread the Project Management culture inside the company.

Therefore, during last year the company invested in Project Management training: DERWID’s employees in all our offices attended Project Management courses and some of us already obtained the first level ISIPM certification.

An internal course about Project Management

In order to complete this training, an internal course about Project Management was planned. It was completed last week.

Our asset and PM Lorenzo Cuciniello introduced us to the Project Management basics. Starting from the International Norm, we then explored the context, technical and behavioral competences that a PM should have. Moreover, we examined the requirements, the players involved and the project processes. We also talked about the risks of Project Management, about constraints and assumptions and all the variables to be considered if we want that a project ends successfully.

And, which are the results after this Project Management training? First of all, more awareness to manage your projects. And then, a whole company that supports you and our PMs and understands Project Management topics. A concrete help to reach your goals.

And remember, as Sir Winston Churchill once said:
“Plans are of little importance, but planning is essential.”

Do you want to know if DERWID could help you with your projects? Contact us and discover our Project Management competences.
