Variant Configuration in SAP

Last 5th July DERWID attended the 11th Conference about Variant Manufacturing and Variant Management in Sankt Leon – Rot, organized by Sybit together with SAP and msg treorbis.

We explained the highlights of 3D Configuration in SAP Fiori in partnership with msg Treorbis and the unlimited possibilities of Variant Configuration.  As a matter of fact, the production of the future needs to be always faster, more individual, more intuitive to continue to satisfy the wishes of customers.

It is increasingly important to be able to easily configure and order even complex machines, tools, components or devices adapted to specific needs online. Variant configuration thus gains new and important importance – also for management.

DERWID at Smart Variant CON 2018

Last week, from 24th to 26th June DERWID attended Smart Variant CON in the Maritim Pro Arte Hotel in Berlin. This event is one of the most important conferences on the topic variant configuration and complexity management in the german speaking area.

Within the moderation of two Tech Take Sessions, for the 4th edition, DERWID with the partner MSG.treorbis presented current trends around visualization and graphical configuration of variants. In particular, the graphical visualization integrated in SAP Fiori had a real positive feedback.

The combination of practical lectures and interactive elements characterized the conference and gave an overview on the latest trends and opportunities of variant configuration, such as the integrated 3D visualization technologies of DERWID, to around 200 participants.

We are glad to be part of the growing product configuration community  in Germany and to share our innovations and knowledge in these such stimulating environments.

On 24th June 2018 Smart Variant CON 2018 will begin: it is the biggest platform for variant and complexity management in the German speaking area.

During the two-day congress many successful projects about variance management and solutions for an efficient configuration will be presented, while practical methods for the calculation and reduction of complexity will be discussed.

For the forth time, DERWID is partner of Smart Variant CON and during the icebreaker session on 26th June we will speak about the advantages of 3D visualization with our partner msg treorbis GmbH.

DERWID supports Peter Rohr on the Bridgestone Cup Handy Races 2018

Peter Rohr and DERWID came on the track at Moto GP France in Le Mans. It was the first race together.

During the last DERWID Summit 2018, we met Peter and we have seen his YAMAHA R1 with its ‘new DERWID dress’. As a matter of fact, the sponsoring project was born some months ago, after have known Peter and his incredible story.

After a big crash with his motorbike, he lost the use of his left arm. However he didn’t lose the passion and the courage to come back on the track and nowadays he is a winning star of the Internation Bridgestone Handy Race, gaining the 3rd place in Le Mans last weekend.

Interview with ABK Group on Tile Italia

Creating environments in real time giving life to images of the highest quality and inserting the desired materials. It is the configurator that DERWID has created by mixing photography and rendering, easy to use for any type of user. On the occasion of the release of the second part, we met the marketing manager of ABK Group, Cristian Nizzoli, who confirmed his trust in Derwid.

Q: What is the photo configurator for the ABK Group?

A: EASY LIVING is a simple and effective tool, able to transmit to our interlocutors, from business partners to professionals and, why not, to the final consumer, all the potentials of ABK, Ariana and Flaviker products. It presents the design opportunities offered by our range in an engaging, fast and interactive way, in real environments.

Q: The project: how did you start? the present? the future?

A: We needed to find a user-friendly tool, without compromising on the graphic rendering, that would help to show the almost infinite coordinated solutions that can be achieved with our products. Inside a showroom it is impossible to summarize all these combinations.

With the first version of EASY LIVING we could already save and share each configuration via e-mail, with the new release we can also print a complete view and detail of the items used, as well as share projects on the main social channels even from smartphones. Let’s not forget that in 2016 over 40% of users in the world accessed the mobile internet. In 2017 this figure grew by 10%.

Derwid has proved to be an attentive partner, punctual and able to always find the right solutions for our needs and this has allowed us to quickly face all the critical issues related to such a complex project.

Q: Why did you choose the DERWID photo configurator?

A: The Derwid proposal seemed to be consistent with our research path and able to reproduce the quality of our product. The Abk Group not only offers new trendy collections but aims to offer real design solutions thanks to a wide choice of materials and finishes always well coordinated with each other. In DERWID we found a reality capable of listening and interpreting our requests at best and also at the service level, our expectations have been widely met.

Q: What can you do with the configurator?

A: There is the possibility of viewing, sharing and saving among the favorites the combination of the products chosen in different types of environment: with our new ranges (large slabs, covering products, thickened formats for exteriors) the ceramic is now ready to different uses. A true emotional experience for the client.

Q: What are the most interesting features from the point of view of the ABK group?

A: Definitely the possibility of obtaining detailed statistical reports on the most used products and formats; precious information that helps us to interpret the macro-trends of the market. It is also important to be able to download images, with a significant saving on photo insertions.

Q: What are the results after almost a year of use?

A: We have an average of 500 accesses a day, with peaks of 1400. Offer this free access tool, usable by connecting to our websites at any time with a simple internet connection and with any device, as well as being an important alternative to concept of traditional catalog, it has certainly been a valid support in the loyalty of our supply chain.

Fila Industria Chimica Spa: growth and reorganization to increase efficiency

With Carlo Cortese, Application Manager of Fila Industria Chimica Spa, we talked about the company’s history and growth and about how the EDI project has been integrated in the business activities.

Tell us more about Fila Industria Chimica Spa.

Fila was established in 1943 in San Martino di Lupari (Italy) by the twins Guido and Pietro Pettenon. Fila stands for “Fabbrica Italiana di Lucidi e Affini”: at that time the company produced shoe polishes, waxes and household cleaners.

In the Seventies there was a turning point. The second generation of the family – in particular the current President Mr. Beniamino Pettenon and his sister Adriana – had an intuition: they moved the core business from shoe polishes to professional products for the cleaning, protection and finishing of floor and surfaces.

Today, the third generation of Pettenon’s Family, leads Fila Industria Chimica Spa. The results achieved are really important: our professional products are distributed in more than 100 countries in the world and, even more significant goal, the quality of Fila’s products is acknowledged and directly recommended by producers in the ceramic and stone industry, with over 200 partnerships.

What are your challenges for the future?

The company focuses on the quality of its products, without forgetting the ecological aspect, that we call Fila Green Action: we aim to obtain more eco-friendly products, that are not harmful to humans and the environment, and with a better performance and a greater duration of the treatment.

Strengthened by the excellence of its products and its sales network spread all over the world, Fila aims to continue to grow.

How will you be able to tackle these challenges?

Investing time and resources in reorganization and renovation projects.

In order to better serve the market, the company has 3 Business Unit:

  • TRADE, the historical business unit, addressed to dealers – from the little hardware store to big retail chains,
  • TECH, addressed to producers of ceramics, also with customized products, directly used in the production line,
  • PROJECT, addressed to large construction projects where Fila products are used. Among the references of this business unit, there are the Tree of Life of Expo Milan, Piazza degli Scacchi in Marostica (VI), the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi, Baker Street Metro Station in London.

This reorganization is supported by the complete renovation project of IT applications and business processes began in 2013 and that will end in 2018, in which the EDI project is inserted. Thanks to the new ERP, the modern CRM, the Business Intelligence reports and the EDI connection, today Fila has a modern and flexible support for the commercial growth, with more control possibilities on processes and evaluation of business data. With the new ERP, now unique for all 6 subsidiaries, we standardized the sales process and now it’s possible to interface with other external systems, with the possibility to implement the EDI project with some of our fundamental customers, both Italian and international.
